Valomet
Podmorski
The Agricultural Cooperative Vrbnik also offers an underwater variant of the sparkling wine Valomet. In 2006, we decided to place bottles of sparkling wine in steel lattice crates and submerge them at a depth of approximately 30 meters, about half a mile off the coast of Vrbnik. This unique environment, characterized by a constant temperature of 12°C, darkness, and silence, is exceptionally favorable for the fermentation of sparkling wine. These bottles do not require labels, as the marine life has naturally adorned them, with only a small, handcrafted plaque indicating the wine's identity: Sparkling Wine Valomet PZ Vrbnik.
This refined beverage carries the varietal character of Žlahtina, enriched with subtle aromatic nuances developed from aging on the lees. It pairs perfectly with shellfish, oysters, and other seafood. Valomet Sparkling Wine
Created using the traditional bottle fermentation method, Valomet Sparkling Wine embodies the essence of excellence. The base wine, made from the Žlahtina variety, gently ferments at an optimal 15°C before resting in the bottle for 1 to 2 years. Valomet natur brut is characterized by a light straw color and an intense, long-lasting fine bead. The nose is dominated by subtle vinous notes of brioche and fresh bread. On the palate, it is very dry, pleasantly fresh, with creamy bubbles and citrus-floral aromas.
Valomet Sparkling Wine perfectly complements both cold and warm starters of Kvarner cuisine, enhancing the flavors of fish, shellfish, mollusks—especially raw Kvarner scampi—young island and Grobnik cheeses, Krk prosciutto, as well as buzara (a traditional Croatian seafood stew) and pasta dishes like šurlice, paired with light sauces made from porcini mushrooms or wild asparagus. A traditional product of PZ Vrbnik, this sweet dessert wine is crafted from the Žlahtina grape variety. Overripe grapes and concentrated must undergo a prolonged fermentation in oak barrels, followed by aging over several years, resulting in a luscious sweet beverage.
